STOPWASTE, THE ALAMEDA COUNTY AGENCY REDUCING WASTE SINCE 1976

StopWaste helps Alameda County’s businesses, residents, and schools waste less, recycle properly, and use water, energy, and other resources efficiently. They are a public agency governed by the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board, and the Energy Council.

Timothy Burroughs

Timothy Burroughs

Timothy Burroughs has been the Executive Director at StopWaste since July 2021. He Previously served as Director of Berkeley’s Department of Planning and Development and prior to that as Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Berkeley. He has a master’s degree in international environmental policy from the American University in Washington, D.C., and also served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa.
One topic he will discuss, among others, will be the Organics Reduction and Recycling Ordinance (SB 1383) that went into effect in January 2022.
