LWVBAE Presented With Global Citizen Award

East Bay Chapter of the United Nations AssociationThe League of Women Voters of  Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville (LWVBAE) is pleased to announce that we have received the Global Citizen Award for Democracy from the East Bay Chapter of the United Nations Association. This prestigious award honors the LWVBAE’s continued innovation, resilience, and commitment to upholding democratic values, as well as our continued commitment to providing voter education. We are extremely grateful to have been presented with this award and thank the United Nations Association for bestowing us with this honor.

An award ceremony was held Sunday, November 3rd, to present LWVBAE,  along with the seven other League of Women Voters branches in the East Bay, with a plaque commemorating them. Kandea Mosley Gandhi, LWVBAE President, was there at the start of the event to meet other attendees before attending to voter service/get out the vote activities planned for the same day. Cynthia Chen, the LWVBAE Treasurer and Eva Levenson, an intern who is part of the Helen Lecar Civic Engagement Program, were both present to accept the award.

“It was really amazing to be there,” Levenson said, reflecting on her opportunity to attend. “And so amazing to be surrounded by so many of the changemakers in our community. I’m glad I could be part of the effort that brought us here.”

As we celebrate this moment, we are still reminded that our work is not done. We at the LWVBAE pledge to continue advocating for democracy and voter education into the future. We thank all those who contributed this election season to the LWVBAE’s efforts and once more, thank the United Nations Associations for recognizing us with this award.
