When the United States walked away from the Paris agreement on climate change in 2017, it left China as the most significant player in the debate.The Paris agreement is an accord signed in 2015 within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that sets out a series of goals to deal with global greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and finance, starting in 2020.
Tom Athanasiou, co-founder of Eco Equity gave us his first hand account. He is active in the climate negotiations, author of Divided Planet: the Ecology of Rich and Poor, and the co-author with Paul Baer of Dead Heat: Global Justice and Global Warming and Paul Baer’s Greenhouse Development Rights: The Right to Development in a Climate Constrained World.
