A festive spirit reigned at the All Class Berkeley High School Reunion Picnic last Saturday, Aug. 24, as Berkeley High grads, friends, and families gathered at San Pablo Park for their biennial gala. Lively musicians on a raised stage entertained and food vendors enticed picnic attendees. Alumni were gathered in colorful tents marked by the year of their graduation, while a bubble maker extraordinaire and train rides engaged the children.
Under our familiar blue tent bearing the “Making Democracy Work” slogan, LWVBAE volunteers engaged passers-by with a new offering – an LWV t-shirt raffle! One lucky winner is pictured above. In addition to the usual voter registration, there were flyers on Prop. 13 reform, criminal justice reform, and home electrification to fight climate change. Also making its debut was a flyer advertising the first “Face the Future” Speaker, Berkeley City Auditor Jenny Wong, who will appear Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Berkeley Central Library from 2 to 4 pm.
