IT’S TIME TO SIGN UP FOR AN EVENTFUL FALL MEETING OF LWVBAE on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Northbrae Community Church, 941 The Alameda, Berkeley. Helen Hutchison, Interim Executive Director and past President of the League of Women Voters of California will present “Update from the LWV California: Schools & Communities First! and Beyond”. “Schools & Communities First!” is the campaign led by LWVC, Pico California and California Calls to restore needed revenue to schools and communities by changing the basis of commercial property assessment by Prop. 13 from original purchase price to market value. The basis of assessment of residential, rental and all other property taxes will NOT be changed.

DINNER
Our chef Rainey Sykes will prepare a superb dinner: 1) Chicken thighs braised in white wine and rosemary, 2) Roasted baby carrots and fingerling potatoes, 3) Tossed green salad. 4) Sorbet with homemade cookies.

REGISTER
The meeting is free for all and $20 for those wishing dinner. Please register here on eventbrite for both meeting and dinner by Mon. Oct. 14. PROGRAM
5:00 Doors open. Members of the Climate Team, Civil Talk Team, Prop. 13 Reform Team, and the Criminal Justice Reform group will meet-and-greet.
6:00 – 7:00 Dinner.
7:00 – 8:00 Presentation by Helen Hutchison.
8:00 – 8:30 Business Meeting: Appreciation of Voter Services Volunteers. Introduction of the Board. Jinky Gardner and Christine Wenrich present the member recruitment plan “EachOneRecruitOne”.

TRANSPORTATION
Parking and handicapped access will be available through the Los Angeles Ave. (rear) entrance. Buses no.79, which runs till 10pm, and no.18, which runs till midnight, stop nearby. Anyone needing a ride please call the League office at 510-843-8824 and leave a message.
