Monday January 19 from 9am to 10:30am at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina, 200 Marina Blvd, Berkeley, CA 94710.
Each year, the Berkeley MLK Jr. breakfast offers a time to come together to honor the enduring legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., not only through remembrance, but through a shared call to action to advance justice, equity, and belonging in our communities.
In its 15th year, we gather under the theme, “Be the Light,” a call that feels both timeless and urgent.
Dr. King taught us that light is not passive. It requires courage, conviction, and a willingness to stand firm in love, especially when the path forward is unclear. To be the light is to choose empathy over indifference, truth over comfort, and collective care over individual gain.
“Be the Light” is also an invitation. An invitation to show up for one another, to speak out against injustice, and to lead with compassion even in difficult times. Be reminded that as a community, light multiplies when it is shared, and that together, we have the power to illuminate a more just and inclusive future.
