Proposition 50 

AUTHORIZES TEMPORARY CHANGES TO CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT MAPS IN
RESPONSE TO TEXAS’ PARTISAN REDISTRICTING. LEGISLATIVE
CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT.

• In response to Texas’ mid-decade partisan congressional redistricting, this measure
temporarily requires new congressional district maps, as passed by the Legislature in August
2025, to be used in California’s congressional elections through 2030. •
• Retains California’s independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and directs the
Commission to resume enacting congressional district maps in 2031 after the 2030 census
and every ten years thereafter.
• Establishes state policy supporting use of fair, independent, and nonpartisan redistricting
commissions nationwide.

Mail-in ballots can be dropped in any Alameda County Dropbox. They can also be dropped at any open Vote Center in Alameda County. They can always be dropped in a US Postal Mailbox, no stamps needed.

ELECTION  CALENDAR

  • First day of Vote by Mail Ballots mailed, October 6, 2025
  • Ballot drop-off locations open on October 7, 2025.
  • Last day to register to vote in this election, October 20, 2025
  • Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties beginning on October 25, 2025.
  • Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or your county elections office.
  • Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 12, 2025.
  • Election Day, November 4, 2025

Alameda County is a Voter’s Choice Act County.

 Voters who missed the October 20, 2025 voter registration deadline
can still register and vote up to and including Election Day at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters Office, 1225 Fallon Street G-1, Oakland and at any Vote Center Location.
