As many of you know, we’re entering the annual membership renewal and giving season. Your ongoing commitment with the League of Women Voters of Berkeley, Albany, Emeryville (LWVBAE) allows us to be an inspiring force for good, empowering voters and advocating for justice for over 100 years.

As we all begin to renew our memberships and donate, we want to inform you of a structural development that is changing how we renew and how we give.

• Membership dues for local Leagues of Women Voters are now being collected and processed centrally by the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS). This change, approved at Convention in Denver, CO in 2022, went into effect in February 2025.

• So when you receive your renewal notice from LWVUS, which you should receive 30 days before your membership expires, do act and renew!

Dues will be split immediately among three levels of League, and members will receive three separate receipts for LWVUS, LWV California, and your LWVBAE. Only the portion paid to LWVBAE is tax deductible. When renewing, please pay the recommended amount ($75).

Afterwards, do return to LWVBAE at lwvbae.org to  join our Giving Circle – or contribute by sending your gift in the mail to 2530 San Pablo Ave, Ste F, Berkeley, CA 94702. If your bank is part of the Zelle network, you can send your donation electronically to treasurer@lwvbae.org. This way, your entire donation will go directly to support LWVBAE and our educational and community organizing right here at home.

We are sending this letter as a reminder because without you, there is no us. There is no League of Women Voters. In these reactionary times, let’s keep working together in community against the proliferation of disinformation, aggressive attempts to crush our freedoms, intimidate, and destroy American democracy as we know it. Please give by December 15, 2025!
