Program Team

Program Director: Jessica Powell

Meetings are usually held the first Wednesday each month from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at the League Office, 2530 San Pablo, Berkeley. Check online calendar.
The Program Team coordinates all LWVBAE events and speakers and may also dream them up, identify topics and speakers, plan, organize and run the events, even provide refreshments when appropriate.

The Program Team develops and carries out activities that grow out of the League’s basic purposes, principles and public policy positions. We list regular meetings below; from time to time, larger public meetings to help the public understand important policy questions and issues.

We need volunteers!
Do you like to organize and run successful meetings, events, or meals?
We’re looking for new team leads to help organize the events listed below and a new group of major public panels and events.  We also need numerous volunteers for short-term, sometimes “done-in-a-day,” task, such as greeters, interview moderators, or set-up/clean-up volunteers. Joining the Program Team a great way to get involved across League activities and issue areas. If you are interested in helping out, please email Jessica at .

Possible Tasks to work on with and for the Program Team:

Legislative Interviews & Town Hall Coordinator/Team – Schedule and organize lobbying meeting and town halls with local political figures. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with the Action Team.

Volunteer Coordinator/Team – Contact and schedule volunteers to staff LWV events. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with the Membership Team.

Social and Networking Coordinator/Team – Organize social and networking events for the League including happy hours and mixers. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with the Communications and Membership Teams.

Fundraising Coordinator/Team – Manage outreach to donors and organize fundraising events. This position reports to the Program Director.

Films Coordinator/Team – Organize film screenings at local theaters to support League issue priorities. This position reports to the Programs Director and works closely with the Issue Teams.

League Events
Spring Meeting:  This year the meeting will be held on May 11, 2017.  It includes an optional dinner, speakers, and a business meeting.
Fall Meeting:  Date, place and topic of fall meeting in September 2017 have not yet been set. The Last Fall meeting was held Thursday, September 15, 7:00-8:30 PM at Northbrae Church. See web story.
