Upcoming State Ballot Measures and Initiatives June & Nov 2016

Crazy busy election season coming up.  With–by my count–56 initiatives in circulation–and with one legislative constitutional amendment for the June ballot SCA 17, Steinberg, in suspension and three statewide ballot measures already qualified, we League members are facing a huge amount of work. The three are: Referendum to Overturn Ban on Single-Use Plastic Bags;SB 1174 (Chapter 753, Statutes of 2014), Lara. State Fees on Hospitals. Federal Medi-Cal Matching Funds, Initiative Statutory and Constitutional Amendment. Measures Eligible for November ballot which can become qualified are” State Fees on Hospitals. Federal Medi-Cal Matching Funds. Initiative Statutory and Constitutional Amendment.Adult Films. Condoms. Health Requirements. Initiative Statute. Revenue Bonds. Statewide Voter Approval. Initiative Constitutional Amendment.  School Bonds. Funding for K-12 School and Community College Facilities. Initiative Statutory Amendment.

There will be local ballot measures too–and we will need some volunteers to analyze and work on them. We will face lots of candidate elections at all levels of government too!

Among the 65 circulating ballot measures are many different topics including 14 on marijuana legalization of many kinds. Various water bonds and several that would affect voting are among the aspiring measures.
