Join Anna Lappe and Robert Reich this weekend in supporting Measure D. Show that the League and Berkeley support Berkeley Measure D. League Members and Supporters are warmly invited to join in the get out the vote effort this Saturday, Sunday and Monday with the Yes on D campaign. The League Board–at the members who attended the Election Action Meeting–strongly supported Measure D. The League signed the ballot arguments in support. Big Money is flowing in to the opposition campaign from “Big Soda.”

Here is the message sent out by the campaign.
“The monied interests are doing what they do best – making money. The rest of us need to do what we can do best – use our voices, our vigor and our votes.”
To win, we need your help to GET OUT THE VOTE (GOTV)
With the election only 6 days away, we are in an all out push to the finish line for Yes on Measure D on Election Day – our kids are counting on us! We must change the trajectory of our kids’ health, and we must use our voices and our vigor to stand up to Big Soda. Here’s how:
1 – Canvass this Saturday, 11/1, 10am – 2pm
Meet your friends and neighbors at our Campaign Headquarters, 2225 Shattuck.
Special Guest at 10am – Anna Lappe
Berkeley Mom, advocate, author, educator and voice of sustainability and health, Anna will share her perspective of why this Yes on Measure D win in Berkeley is crucial.
2 – RSVP to GOTV Sunday, 11/2 through Election Day, 11/4
We need you, your friends and your neighbors as GOTV volunteers. Please, please RSVP today, if you have not already, by emailing Lolis Ramirez at firstname.lastname@example.org, so we can finalize our plans. Please tell her which days and hours work for you.
Sunday 11/2: 11am – 8pm
Monday 11/3: 11am – 8pm
Tuesday 11/4 Election Day: 7am – 8pm
Full days, half days, a few hours – we need everyone to step forward and stand up as we make history. And plan to stay with us at Campaign Headquarters, 2225 Shattuck, Election Night from 8pm – 10pm for speakers and election returns.
3 – GOTV Kickoff Sunday, 11/2 at 11am featuring YOU, Robert Reich, and Jacob Kornbluth
Be sure to join your friends and neighbors by 11am at our Campaign Headquarters, 2225 Shattuck for what will be an inspiring and historical morning.
At 11am, Robert Reich and local filmmaker Jacob Kornbluth will speak briefly after showing the short film they created about Measure D, which debuted last week on Upworthy (it’s been viewed about 850,000 times across social media already – WOW!). The video is based on Reich’s widely published column, in which he discusses push-polling by the American Beverage Association and the impact of big corporate money on democracy. They’ll talk about why they decided to get involved and the national implications of Berkeley’s Measure D initiative.
With this huge dose of inspiration, we’ll then head out to GOTV for our kids’ health and their future.
4 – Fuel us as we GOTV – We need food, drinks and rest stops
Are you a restaurant, grocer, or home cook willing to donate healthy food and drinks to our GOTV volunteers? Please contact Pam Gray: email@example.com to coordinate your donation.
Willing to open up your home as a rest stop to our GOTV volunteers on Election Day? Email Lolis Ramirez at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Let’s win this for our kids!
Our GOTV efforts are crucial, and your support is vital. For it will take all of our voices and all of our actions these next 6 days to win on Tuesday. Stand up, stand in, and join us as we make history for our kids with a Yes on D win in Berkeley.
Together, Berkeley can beat Big Soda. Vote Yes on Measure D.
