Join the Sierra Club and the League of Women Voters to learn more about a state-wide plan – the Bay Delta Conservation Plan — that has been in the works for many years AND will significantly impact water throughout our state.
The Brown Administration’s Bay-Delta Conservation Plan creates two side-by-side underground tunnels (33-feet in diameter) to carry fresh water from the Sacramento River to the federal and state pumps in Tracy. These giant pumps will send Northern California water south to farms in the Central Valley and to urban areas in the East and South Bay, and Southern California.
This is the topic of discussion at a February 20th forum presented jointly by the League of Women Voters Eden Area, the Sierra Club Bay Chapter Water Committee, the Sierra Club Southern Alameda County Group, and the Castro Valley Library.
Speakers include: Paul Helliker, Deputy Director, California Department of Water Resources, Delta and Statewide Water Management; Jill Duerig, General Manager, Livermore/Amador Valley Zone 7 Water Agency; Barbara Barrigan-Parilla, Executive Director, Restore the Delta; and Nick Di Croce, Co-facilitator, Environmental Water Caucus.
Roberta Bornogovo, Chair of the Water Committee for the California League of Women Voters, will moderate the event.
Learn more about this state-wide project, its relationship to our current drought and its impact on YOUR water use.
